  1. Ch. 2 begins with Roy getting bullied by Dana on the bus because he was wearing reeboks. Dana wouldn’t let go, digging his fingers into Roys windpipe. Roy bolted for the door of the bus se-just as the last student, a tall girl with curly blond hair and red - framed eyeglasses, came up the steps, and Roy clumsily edged past her and jumped to the ground and started running. He then went to Viola Hennepin the vice principal to talk about what happened on the bus. Viola Hennepin told Roy to write Dana a apology letter. In the cafeteria Roy was eating his lunch and the curly blond hair girl with the red glasses put a hand on his shoulder. “You nearly knocked me down this morning,” she said. He said, “see, I punched a kid in the nose.” “Oh, I heard all about it,” the girl said snidely, “but that’s not why you ran off, was it?” “Sure it was.” “ I got some advice for you,” she said, lowering her voice. “You listening?” The girl shoved him once more. Glaring balefully over the top of her red-framed eyeglasses, she said, “From now on, mind your own damn business.”

  3. Chapter 2 begins with Roy sitting to the front of the bus because he didn't want to be picked on by Dana Matherson. But this time Dana Matherson was in the seven row back tormenting a sixth grader named Louis was from Haiti and Dana was merciless. As the bus came to a stop at the intersection, Roy poked his head out the window to see if the boy was running barefoot. He only saw seven kids got on the bus. But the strange shoeless boy was nowhere to be found. After that he saw the boy running down a familiar corner and he was wearing the same basketball jersey, same grimy shorts, same black soled feet. Roy was trying to get off the bus but to big sweaty hands came on him and it was Dana Matherson he was putting Roy in a neck hold and he said " Lemme go," then he tightened the grip harder so he tried to escape but it didn't work. Then Roy was trying to fight back but he failed to do so.

  5. Chapter 2 of the book Hoot started off with the protagonist, Roy, getting on the bus and try to look out for the running kid. For the first couple of stops he doesn’t see him, until he gets finds him, and tries to get off the bus until Dana grabs him by the throat, and starts gripping really tight. Roy tells Dana to let go but Dana refuses and makes more cheesy insults. Roy wanted to chase the kid down really bad before the doors to the bus close so he punches Dana and runs off the bus and almost knocks a blond student over. He chases the kid through a golf course and gets smacked in the head with a golf ball and gets knocked out. He is later sent to the Principals office to get his side of the story when he broke Danas nose. Roy is told that he has to apologize for breaking his nose and possibly get a hospital bill. They will not believe that Dana started the fight because no one on the bus will speak up because they are all to afraid of Dana. No one except for the nurse because she checked his neck and saw finger marks on his neck.

At lunch the girl he almost knocked over on the bus approaches and tells him that he needs to stay away from the kid that he was chasing.

And that’s my summary of chapter 2!

  6. So far in chapter 2 of Hoot Roy seems to be curious as to who this boy that runs barefoot through yards, construction sites and the woods. Roy seems to get bullied a lot because he’s from Montana, at least thats what I’ve gathered from the reading so far, and he gets called “Cowgirl” or “Tex” and he even gets called “ Roy Rogers-hardt.” Roy is now in the vice-principals office and is getting questioned to why he punched the person who was bullying him and his name was Dana. I’m not sure if Dana got any punishment but Roy did get suspended from the bus for 2 weeks. Roy then had to go home and explain the whole incident to his parents. At the end of this chapter Roy gets confronted by the girl he ran past to get off the bus, she pinned him up against the wall and stated “From now on, mind your own damn business.” The chapter then ended with her walking away and sticking up a forefinger in the air.
