Live Every Day...

In the epilouge, Cody reads a speech at graduation from Ben, and it contained this quote:

"Live every day like you're going to live forever and every day like it's going to be your last"

How does this quote relate to Ben's life?  How does this quote relate to your life?  To explain, use examples from the book and from your own life.

  1. The quote "Live every day like you're going to live forever and every day like it's going to be your last" relates to Bens life because he didn't start making big decisions until he found out that he was dying. That was when he made decisions that he would have never made because he wasn't afraid of what decisions he would of had to live with.
The quote relates to me because life is to short to be afraid to try new things. But the reason we don't really understand that right now is because we are young. We also really can't grasp how much of a gift life is and it can be taken away from us at any time.

  2. This quote relates to Ben’s life because he was holding on to his life and living it till the fullest until he died. Ex.) I decided to forgo the treatment and give myself a reasonable shot at living a meaning life in one year. If you don’t learn anything else from my death, learn to tell the truth. Ex.) When he took risks like this was his last chance and at the same time kept it in his head that his actions had consequences not only for him but for everyone he touched, forever, he made his best decisions. He got a lot of help, by the way.

This quote relates to my life because I know how its hard to lose a person in your life. My grandma was the best thing that ever happened to me because she would bring me and my sister and all the cousins gifts when she went to Florida. She would put a smile on my face every single day that I saw her. My grandma lived her life until she died from Kidney failure.

  3. “Live Everyday like you are going to live forever and everyday like it is going to be your last.” This quote relates to Ben’s life as well as my own life.

It relates to Ben’s life because he did not really follow that quote since he did something that was not right which was keeping his death a secret until January. This is disobeying that quote because if he was still keeping that a secret on his last day on earth, his life would end up being a life of someone who liked to disobey which I think would not be a very good life. So if he would have told the people he was going to die once he found out, he would have been better at obeying that quote.

I think that that quote is a good quote because you should live every day like it would be your last because if you end up doing that, you would be living a life in which you obey. I think that would be a very good life.

That is why that quote relates to my life and Ben’s life.

  4. How i think its results to Ben life is he did live everyday like his last.

For EX When his project was something way out trying to name the street after Malcolm X. But Ben knew that that would not happen but he just wanted to pisoff Mr.Lambeer. Ben don't care if he got in trouble or not.

How this relates to me when i don't want to do something. I don't do a good job on it or mess it up. Just for them to do it again or tell me to back in the house. But i would get in trouble and not care.

  5. “Live every day like you’re going to live forever and everyday like it’s going to be your last”

Ben literally lived by this quote everyday of his life because in the beginning of the book he said that he was going to live the rest of his life as if nothing is going on and try to everything he didn’t have the courage to do before. Like asking out his dream girl and try out for the football team. Knowing that he was going to die before the school year was done was not going to let this bad genetic catalyst stop him from accomplishing these ambitions. Even though life kept pelting him with “shit storms” and tried to push him down Ben still rose up beyond that and fought to accomplish his goals and stay alive long enough to do so.

This quote relates to my life though because I’m for one optimistic so I live everyday tryin to me mostly happy and stay positive in bad situations. My life as well as many others can probably be described as a Deus ex machina, it sometimes sudden or unexpected but can also give us solutions to problems.
One example of this in my life is well, me. I literally live everyday as positive and as fun as I can even if I’m depressed that day or just flat out lazy.
This is why I think this quote relates to Ben's life and my life as well.

  6. The quote “Live every day like you're going to live forever and every day like it's going to be your last" relates to Bens life because he found out he was dying and decided he was going to take risks and not be phased by the consequences because he always thought he was going to die anyway and it can’t get worse than that. Ben went for a chance with Dallas and got it, he tried for football and he got it, he fought for his dreams because he had death right at his side so he jumped for what he could and that took courage, he treasured every day but dwelled on the bad, he in the end made everything right and left a legacy worth remembering forever. This quote also relates to my life because I have a rare medical disease, like Ben I know how I’m going to die and my approximate due date, I’ve also learned to only speak the truth. I was told I could possibly die in my late thirties from this disease and it usually causes cardiac arrest as I get older. My disease proceeds to affect me more and more every day, so I live by this quote every day and I’ve learned to speak my mind and try things I’ve never done before. I want to experience what everyone else does like hard work, I want to show people that I may have a rare and painful disease but I will push myself and do everything you do to prove that you can have a disability and still do amazing things. I spend everyday as it may be my last, no regrets. I love my weird life and I will Live every day like I’m going to live forever and every day like it's going to be my last.
