  1. In the book “Staying fat for Sarah Byrnes” The main character Eric is the only friend to the other main character Sarah Byrnes who is also Erics only friend. That is one of the main conflicts of this book, there struggle to support each other in their hardest times which is very common in this book. That is because they both of things about them that make them stand out from the crowd, kind of like hipsters except they don’t embrace nor enjoy it. Eric is a bigger kid with his dad’s looks which from what I can gather aren’t the greatest looking. Sarah has scars on her face from so called “Boiled spaghetti” which obviously I mean her father did that to her.

“Reason I know them burns wasn’t caused by no boilin’ pot of spaghetti is she tol’ me different.”

    “what’d she say?”

“Said her daddy pushed her face against a burnin’ wood stove.”(page 115)

This conflict kind of relates to me because while I was in intermediate school, I really didn’t have many friends at the school, except for Brandon.
I was very anti social and quiet for the longest time until I met people with common interests like myself, such as Justin,Ethan,Nathan, Etc. They basically helped me not be antisocial since they were all different from each other personality wise. Which I got used to how they acted and kind of developed a new sort of optimistic attitude and basically started to talk to more people. I’m still quite shy but I am much more social than I used to be.

  2. In The book called Born to Rock, The Main character named Leo just learned that his biological father is Marion McMurphy who is know as the lead singer of the punk band Purge. “I wasn’t quite me anymore” (Korman Pg.37). This shows that his conflict is that know that he knows that he has a biological father is someone that was kept a secret, he is now in an internal conflict because he is mainly against himself in the book.

An example of my life is when I was told the truth about Santa Claus. When I found out that he was not real, I could not even believe that my parents kept a secret from me all of those years when I did not know that my parents were Santa the whole time but now I am used to it. I am thinking that Leo will eventually accept the fact that his birth dad is not who he thought was.

  3. The conflict in the girls is Maya is being Bullied and picked on by her best friends but she still wants to be friends with them. An example of a quote is on pg 40 "What did I do to deserve this." Maya thinks that because she didn't know what she did do make Renee, Brianna, Darcy and Candace to back stab Maya behind her back.
My conflict is about what is with this girls friendship growing apart and that relates to me because I was in a popular girls group last year. Then I was noticing I was just like Maya and I had know friends after that. It changed in high school when I had a a lot of friends caring about me and what I do with life and comfort me when some is bullying me or giving me hard trouble in school but that changed since middle school.

  4. The football jocks are thinking they are nerds and lame. page 88 person vs person “Any way you know how Brendan always seemed to attract trouble.” They pick on Brendan because he gets good grades there fore he gets pick on. then he has thoughts of blowing their kneecaps in and slow painful deaths.

I relate to me because I dont alway like that song that I skip it or tell them to turn it off. How this relates with me because my friends are mad at me or they turn off a good song and they won't skip it and I will be kinda mad.

  5. In the book CAN'T GET THERE FROM HERE, Maybe lives in New York who is a teenager and abused and homeless with her friends. Maybe is living on street Piss Alley, and struggling to stay alive on the streets. Ex.) "Maybe tried to be good, but her mother was always mad at her anyway. Maybe is the only one with scars on her back from being burned with a hot iron." This would be a external conflict because it is Individual vs Individual.

Along time ago in school I was bullied. I was called names by people. It was some of a struggle for me because it got me mad. I bullied some people but now I stopped because it is not nice to bully other people. This would be external conflict because it is individual vs individual.

  6. In the book give a boy a gun the conflict of the book is the two main characters are getting bullied by football players. They feel the solution is going in the school and killing every one of the people in the school that felt that they were outcasts. That is why it is individual vs society. The two main characters are against the society we are in because we are expected to look and act a certain way.He is also not willing to take anymore garbage from those people. “I will put that friggin barrel right against his forehead and say “gee sorry Sam” then blow his friggin brains out.”
The main characters conflict relates to my life because i have been bullied by very well like people and ive had a hard time finding people to hang out with. I had time to where i feel the whole world is against me.

  7. Paragraph 1: Identify your book's conflict. Get quotes that connect and show what your conflict is. The conflict is individual vs self and individual vs society because Neeka, D and the protagonist keep crying about Tupac possibly doing time for a tattoo on his stomach that says "THUG LIFE". Then on the radio they announced that the previous night Tupac was shot 5 times and 1 bullet landed near his lung and he was in the hospital. Paragraph 2: Write about how you have faced a similar conflict I have faced a similar conflict where two people in my family ended up in the hospital almost dying but because of sickness. Me, friends, friends of friends, teachers and people we don’t even know came to see my brother while he was in critical condition, everyone cried those weeks he was in the hospital on death's doorstep. Shortly after my brother got out of the hospital another family member fell ill. The other family member all of a sudden started losing his balance and then became paralyzed from the waist down, we later figured out he had somehow gotten lymes disease but, now he is walking again and is back to his normal self.
