  1. TS:The theme of the book Miracle's Boys is amorousness and relationships.
SD: The first example of Amorousness(love) and family is the boys mother.
Elab: This shows Amorousness because all of the boy even if they don't say the do, miss their mother and they all told stories on what she used to do to all of them to either comfort them or just make them feel good about themselves.
SD: The second example of Amorousness(love) and family is the oldest brother Tyree.
Elab: Tyree is the main reason why all the brother's are together to be begin with because he stepped in a took care of the boy's even after both their parent's die.
SD: The third example of Amorousness(love) and family is the ending of the book.
Elab: Towards the end of the book Charlie(the one who get's in trouble the most) starts to realize that being in a gang isn't all too great and that you don't need the kind of friends that only will be your friend if your do this or join that. After he realizes all this he and Lafayette start to become friends again at the end of the book after the talk out their differences.

Closer: I think that these are some of the main reason's why I think the theme of the book is Amorousness(love) and family.

  2. TS the theme for miracle boys is Holding onto Family
SD the first example of Holding onto Family is when Tyree takes care of his brothers when there mom and dad dies.
Elab this shows that this family really relays on each other and takes care of one another when a tragedy happens in there family.
SD the second example of Holding onto Family is when Charlie goes to Rahway
Elab this shows that Charlie is gone when his parents die because he is at Rahway and getting help with what he has. When his mom dies when he is not there so he thinks he's responsible for what he went to Rahway.
SD the third example of Holding onto Family is when Lafayette talks to Charlie at the end of the book
Elab this shows that they are a real family like what they wanted from the beginning even when there parents died.

  3. TS The theme of Miracles boys is hiding the truth.

SD One example of hiding the truth is Ty’ree not telling Lafayette how his dad died.

Elab I think Ty’ree not telling Lafayette how their dad died shows hiding the truth because all Lafayette knew was that his dad died from Hypothermia, Ty’ree wouldn’t tell him how it happened though, but after Ty’ree told Lafayette what happened I think he become more understanding of Ty’rees fear of losing them to their Aunt Cecil because he has nobody else.

SD The second example is Lafayette not telling Ty’ree and Charlie his mom did open her eyes for a split second and took a deep breathe and passed on.

Elab I think this is also an example of hiding the truth because Lafayette felt he couldn’t tell anyone because no one was wanting to hear.I think after Lafayette told them they felt more relief and peace knowing what really happened with their mom in those last few moments.

SD Last but not least Charlie not telling them why he robbed the candy store.

Elab Charlie not telling them why he robbed the candy store is hiding the truth because all that time they just thought he was a kid and made a bad decision on how to go about things. After Charlie told them why he tried to rob the candy store it made much more since, he didn’t steal because he wanted to he was trying to help get money for them to move to “Paradise”.

  4. TS: The theme of Miracle’s Boys is Overcoming Obstacles.

SD: The first example of Overcoming Obstacles is when Tyree saw his dad almost drown and his dad died of hyperthermia.

ELAB: This shows that Tyree was getting nervous because all he wanted for his dad to do was save the dog and the girl from the ice in the park. Also this means that Tyree had to take care of Lafayette and Newcharlie because of what happened to their dad.

SD: The second example of Overcoming Obstacles is when Lafayette stood up for Newcharlie.

ELAB: This shows that Lafayette stood up for his brother because he told Aaron wrong. When Lafayette said to Aaron “Say he dont need no colors to be bad. Say he got his badness inside of him.”

SD: The final example of Overcoming Obstacles is when the boys didn’t talk to each about what happened to their mom and dad.

ELAB: This was an Obstacle they had to overcome because they know that their parents are with them all the time.

  5. TS: The Theme of Miracles boys is Relationships.

SD: The first example of Relationships is when Charlie and Aaron were friends but then Charlie changed and realized that being with Aaron made him part of a bad crowd.

Elab: This shows that Relationships can change.

SD: The second example of Relationship is when Charlie was at at Rahway, He missed his mother’s death and he was blaming Lafayette for his mothers death.

Elab: This shows that brothers can be mad at you but they could really be mad about something else because charlie was just mad that he was not there to witness his mothers death.

SD: The third and final example of relationships is when Lafayette stood up to Aaron for Charlie and said that you don’t need to be in a gang to be bad.

Elab: This shows that brothers are always there or each other.

Closer: That is why the theme is Relationships.
