  1. Ts: Rocky clark was a victim of todays bad health care. This 27 year old male was in a football related injury. He was covered for life, but he max out his insurance, so they stop taking care of him and his body gave out. His family want to make a law that sport people would be covered for life. SD: The health care people decline to talk about the care to local newspapers. Elab: The declined because they know they did something wrong and don't want to look worse than they already do. SD: Clark before he died said “it was like they were punishing me for living too long”. Elab: They healthcare stop insuring him because he was too costly to them and they were not making any money. Closer: The way healthcare is related to consumer culture is that the more money you have he more thing you can get. if you have the money to do something people will gladly help you do it.

  2. Rocky Clark, had been crippled for 10 years, had passed away. He was injured in his spine and neck.

“Clark was informed the $5 million health insurance had reached its maximum.”
This quote shows that people care only about money.

“Officials with Clark’s insurance agency, Health Special Risk Inc., declined to discuss his case or their policies on claims and lifetime maximums with the tribune.”
This quote shows that people aren't gonna waste medicare money on people who won’t get better.

I think that people aren't concerned about helping others anymore and are just more concerned about helping themselves to make more money.

  3. What does Rocky Clark's story reveal about healthcare today? I think Rocky’s story reveals some good as well as some bad. First I think it’s good that the insurance paid up to five million dollars in coverage for Rocky’s devastating injury, and I am glad it kept him alive for so long. Morally I think we want to provide Rocky with the best care to help him live a full live, but economically speaking that’s not how the world works. Someone has to pay the doctors, the nurses, the specialists, the equipment, the medications, and the transpiration back and forth and money does not just come out of thin air. If the school would have continued to cover Rocky there could have been cut backs, and teachers would have lost their jobs. Like I said before I think everyone wants to see Rocky live out the rest of his live but, in the world we live in today it’s all about money sadly money = live or death. In the article it states the “after losing coverage Clark relied on Medicaid” even though the government covers some medical payments and can treat you, it still does not compare to regular coverage that people pay for. In the article it also states that “Rocky will not have to struggle or suffer anymore” people have to put a lot on the line for good health insurance, and sometimes they lose everything. Because my dad is in the hospital I know some of the ins and the outs of heath care I understand what Rocky’s family went through.

  4. Rocky Clark’s story reveals about healthcare today.Health Special Inc. said that “ declined to discuss to interview with them. They don't want to talk because they don't want to say why they had to cut him from the 5 million dollar health care insurance. Rev. Anthony Williams said that his battle shows that every American ought to have quality health care despite their economic woes. He said that because that he thinks that everybody should have equal Health care despite their lifestyle.

  5. Rocky story tells a lot about healthcare and is darker side.
When we hear about healthcare it on tv and is saving how it when they got it there live where so much better about what you don't hear is what happen after their health care drops then and leave them in the dust.

Rockys story is one very similar to that. Rocky a 16 year football player was tackled to the ground and suffered two broken vertebrae in his neck and a spinal injury. He was he was then give a heath care from the high school he was going to at the time. 5 million care to be correct. So like any good parent would do, his mom got him the best help plan. Three nurse around the clock, pain and stress medicines, and help with schooling. Everything he needed to get through the day.

But when the health care 5 million crossed the limit the money stop coming in and he had to go with a very poor plan with a different place. They try to get his 5 million back again but they would not have that. so that was it, the school that he plan on going to would not let him in because they did not have the finance funds. With a bonus to go with that is his health started to drop every day because he did not have the right kind of to help him live with out the money to keep him healthy he had to get a surgery to help him with his lung and kidney problem he has been having. He died after the surgery. With that there love one would have to suffer with the bill they will have to pay.

“He was an inspiration and he gave us good and bad time,” his sister,” He doesn't have to struggle or suffer anymore. he did good deeds, and we will miss him.”
If the consumer culture there is all was greed and that played a role him Rocky life. Where he need the money to keep healthy, but no, they rather go swimming in there money pool, then help rocky live a full and productive life.

  6. In this article it is about how healthcare can just give up on you. When you reach your limit and can’t not pay they just stop helping you. If you really need help and but no health care they won’t help you at all.

In one quote “His battle shows that every american ought to have high quality health care despite their economic woes” (Pastor).

This quote is saying that it doesn't matter if you have the money or not that you should be able to have good health care.

In quote two “In his memory , we’d like to see legislation passed so that in the future athletes will be covered by insurance for life. that’s the most important way we can remember said”(pastor).

This quote is saying that all the athletes should have really good healthcare so they don’t end up like Rocky.

My opinion on all of this is that it shouldn't matter if we have the money or not for health care because if we don’t help the person you are killing the person by not given them the help they need.

  7. How quotes reveal stuff about health care.
The first quote is “life does not always give you what you expect.” said Rocky, this shows, you may expect life to be better than what it is. Or you may expect life to be worse than what it is. In this case it was worse all because Insurance has a way of making you feel safe and secure. The second quote is “he has been fighting for years.” said Rocky's mother, this shows that insurance tries their best as they can. In this case the family tried to do everything they could. But it got to the point where they could not do it anymore. because his 5 million dollar health care policy got all used up. In my opinion, health care should give the people that have been with them for years some sort of health care even if they cannot pay. until they can continue to pay again.

  8. This is my opinion on all of this Rocky novel I fell very sad for him that they don't take care of him for life they should of know that they need it. All football players should think about what is going to happen to the if they get badly injured. Heath care is the most important thing to life and death. Ya he might had heath care but they stop helping him he could of lived if they would of just kept it up. I think that everybody who is in sports should have there life taken care of for life.
