http://www.ted.com/talks/tom_chatfield_7_ways_games_reward_the_brain

After watching this TED Talk, choose 3 of his "reasons" that you feel are the most important aspects of how gaming (or anything else) motivates and explain why you feel this way.  Use this format:  TS, SD, Elab, SD, Elab, SD, Elab, Closer

***For the elaboration, use EXTENDED ELABORATION, at least 2 sentences.

  1. TS: Parents may think that Video Games are “bad for your brain” but they can actually be a really good Motivator for the brain.

SD: The first one is Rapid, Clear feedback.

Elab: When you finish your game, the game will show you your score and how you did. When you do, you can see how good you did RIGHT after you are done, you don’t have to wait a day to see you are at your skills. If it is a bad score, it will motivate your brain to do better and play more.

SD: The second is the element of uncertainty.

Elab: This motivates the brain because when you start playing it, it’s not all that fun because it gets more interesting until you get to the “big boss” level. Therefore you will know what is like to finish playing the game. If you lose, your brain will motivate you to do better on it the next time.

SD: Finally, the motivation with other people as well,

Elab: You don’t always have to play alone, you can play with other people as well. When you do, you get to know other people and make new friends. You can even invite them over to play with you to make it more interesting and have them help you with something you are stuck on.
Closer: That is how video games motivate the brain.

  2. T.S: There are three motivations in tennis.
S.D: The 1st motivation in tennis is Experience bars for measuring progress.
ELAB: I picked experience bars for measuring progress because when you start playing tennis you can make progress along the way like when you have to hit your backhands you probably won’t get it over the net the first time you hit it. Thats why you have to put your best effort into it and not slack off.
S.D: The 2nd motivation in tennis is Multiple long and short term aims.
ELAB: I picked multiple long and short term aims because playing tennis you have to shoot for your goals, and get to the highest point. When you swing the racket back, you have to use one hand because tennis is not like baseball, because you can’t use two hands for your forehand, but you can use two hands for your backhand. Thats why you have to achieve your goals because when it comes to tennis it probably will get harder as you reach your goals, but that is the point of tennis. Pushing through the hard times that get you down and reaching high, and even keeping your head up.
S.D: The last motivation in tennis is Element of uncertainty.
ELAB: I picked element of uncertainty because when you play tennis you get your adrenaline running, and you have to push through your adrenaline. When you have adrenaline you have to get pumped because it has its ups and downs.
CLOSER: These are the three motivations of tennis.

  3. TS I have three things motivates me personally. SD The first thing that motivates me is other people. Elab The first thing would be people because a conversation keeps me going, depending on the conversation and people, because nobody likes it when it's too quiet, it's just awkward. SD The second thing would be fun. Elab I choose fun for the second one because I personally don't like it when people are quiet and down, I'm usually the loud and funny person in class because I'm not afraid to be myself and just jump and do something, I get in trouble then I do but I like making things fun for others in a dull moment. SD My last thing that motivates me is my music. Elab My music is last because it's my favorite, like right now as I'm typing this, I'm listening to music. Music usually helps me think and always be in the moment, I stay focused with it, as it is a fact that music stimulates the entire brain. I always clean with my music on, hang around in my yard with music on, and go on walks with my music, I always have my music with me no matter where I go. Closer Those are my three things out of many to come that motivate me.

  4. This is going to be about the 3 important things from the ted talk video.

Video game are like a sport or hobby they are fun for you to do in your free time.
This videogame some people might not like but some one likes it in a different way. Let say if you like COD and then your best friend plays COD then he could turn around GTA a free world Epencnce and do anything. You could have fun with anything but the way you look at it.

The next way videogame related to life is when the hero is at a roadblock the fall of the main characters.

The hero or the bad guy but they get a pick up and they go and they do the impossible. They rob a bank or go up against the well founding military the underdog wins.

The hero has some problems after they win.
The hero is face flashbacks or friend dieing or shot and then friends taunting you with your past. The otter way you could live the good life with a lot of money sport car living the highlife.then have good life in the end.

when you get mad or sad think of the fiction characters overcoming any things.

  5. Not many people know or even pick up on this but anime actually does motivate people such as myself. I say this because if you ever do get into or already do watch anime, I’m pretty sure that you probably have picked up that it has a kind of moral value to it. For example in the anime “Kore wa zombie desu ka”(Is this a zombie) it tries to tell the audience throughout episodes not to take life for granted and to not say things to people if you don’t know what they can do or what they are going through.

Like for instance in the anime Haruna tells her “friend” Ayumu Aikawa to “Drop dead!” which is a common phrase said amongst people who are arguing or friends who are joking around. But her other friend Eucliwood doesn’t take too kindly to the phrase and slaps Haruna across the face. You later find out the reason why Eucliwood did that and not just because it was rude, it is because Eucliwood is a Necromancer from Hades who has the power to bend reality to her will and can give and take away life to people. Like Ayumu who was saved from a painful death(a sword to the back) by Eucliwood when she said “Don’t die” and made Ayumu immortal. In another episode at the time you learn why she doesn't like it when people say die, she nearly defeats Kyoko(an Elite magical garment girl) by telling her to die. Kyoko has 11 lives so she has to repeat die 11 times before she actually dies. She explains to them that every time she tells someone to die she can feel the person dieing and say’s that it is excruciating pain she describes it as taking a lightning bolt to the head. So to put in short terms it teaches you to watch what you say and to not take life for granted.

Anime also is rewarding at the same time because of the rich and deep story lines with the greatly developed and loveable characters. Like in the anime Dragon Ball Z, it teaches people patience, it does not intend it but the episodes drag on so freakin long that you really got to develop patience while watching it other ways you’ll put yourself into a coma from getting so frustrated at the show and being so bored with a lot of the episodes having little to no fighting in them. But if you're patient enough, you’ll having a very satisfying time seeing Goku finally going Super Sayian and kicking the crap out of Frieza, or Majin Buu being obliterated by the spirit bomb.

Lastly it motivates people to work hard and accomplish their goals in life or just in general. Anime has inspired me to become a artist because of it’s beautiful artwork and wonderful storylines which just makes me want to do the same and make people feel the same way as myself. Even if they don’t want to become artist when there older I can still at the very least entertain them and hopefully tell them a good story with good moral values at the same time.
These are the reasons why I personally think that anime motivates people in many ways.

  6. TS Pokemon is my topic and here are my three reasons why I picked this topic.
SD My first reason why Pokemon is my favorite thing to do is trade and collect them.
Elab I like trading them because a lot of times you get new cards that you need.
SD My second reason why Pokemon is my favorite thing is to watch it on tv
Elab I like watching Pokemon because it teaches you how to become a Pokemon master.
SD My third reason why Pokemon is my favorite thing is I like to sort them.
Elab I like sorting the Pokemon cards because it helps of which one I need and have double of.
Closer this is my three reasons for Pokemon.

  7. Gaming can relate to Magic the Gathering in many ways. But sadly i’m only going to give you three. My first example would be “long term + short term goals” for Magic a long term goal can be making a better deck to compete at Friday Night Magic, it is also known to be called “FNM”. A short term goal could be winning your first game. The same thing goes with gaming. Gaming producers are professionals at getting gamers to be hooked with their games. they also try to keep them interested with the goals of the game.
The video game industry and the game magic try to keep the game interesting.
