  1. I think Michael Sam should have said that because he is taking a risk and his career should've waited for when he went out and retired like what Jason Collins did on the basketball team he waited to tell that he was gay when he was almost done with basketball and retired. I also think that Michael Sam should be drafted because it doesnt matter if your gay or not that's just really rude and people are not going to like you anymore. It doesn't matter if your gay because no it doesn't matter what people think it your life not there's if they are like that just ignore them.

  2. When I think about Michael Sam who is 24 I think that he is right of coming out and saying to his football teammates that he is gay. Ex.) The teammates didn’t spread rumors about Michael being gay. Sam’s sexuality was not closely guarded secret at Missouri. Coaches and classmates also knew he was gay well before today. Sam strongly considered making an announcement late last summer and was willing to play his senior season as an openly homosexual athlete. It remains to be seen, of course, whether Sam’s sexuality will be a big deal in the NFL. Sam played at the senior bowl last month, but he stationed for the first time at outside linebacker. Donovan Bonner said we knew of his status for 5 yrs and not one team member, coach, or staff member said anything says a lot about our family atmosphere.

  3. I think that he did the right thing in my opinion because would you want to know if he was gay after you played with him or when you are playing with him now. Over all in the past it didn't affect the performance of the team. Then they can win the game as a whole team gay or not.
I think more people will come out in any sports and say they are gay. Because they don't have that chance to say it till now. They would be like the outlier of the team. Today we don't think as much if they are gay.But if this happen about 12 years ago we would of thought different and the team would have called him names like when we had the first black man in the MLB we don't like that but now it normal today.

  4. I feel the article on si.com helped michael by saying they stand with him and that it is alright for a gay male to be on a football team. I also feel it is going to help him out in the long run by spreading that its no big deal that he is gay. So he shouldn't be treated any different or even be penalized for being so. It takes a lot of guts to do what he did and he was proud to stand up for what he believed in. I'm not say that i believe in it but i do respect him for standing up being a man and saying what he stood for not just standing behind a lie.

  5. I think its a good thing that Michael Sam came out and said he was gay because it show society that no matter what they think the gays will stand as one and keep coming more courageous as they grow. I also think we are going to eventually end up doing what Martin Luther King did and start a war against a sexuality instead of a race. People don’t choose to be attracted to men or women they just end up being more attracted to one or both genders, they don’t choose, it’s just how they feel. As Bonner said “ we knew of his status for 5 years and not one team member, coach, or staff member said anything says a lot about our family atmosphere.” and head coach Gary Pinkel says “ we’re happy for Michael that he’s made the decision to announce this, and we’re proud of him and how he represents Mizzou.”

  6. Michael Sam announcing that he is gay is one of the most stupidest things a football player could do.

First of all, because all he would get is paparazzi 24/7 because why wouldn’t people ask “How does it feel to be a homosexual?” “How long did you know you were gay?” How do people treat you?” They ask all this because they are probably against gays. He probably can't even sleep with all of those people surrounding his house.

Second, because he will probably be drafted in the NFL and he will have to use a locker room with a bunch of naked guys who are straight and since he will act kind of strange around the other players, there are some coaches that don't even want him on their team. If he never announced that he was gay, coaches would just see him as a good football player.

Thirdly, because of Politics. There are so many Politicians who are against gays and the opposite political parties would start fighting over it which would just lead to a national debate. Who wants a national debate? I think that is the last thing this country needs.

Lastly, he could have announced he was gay but he did at the worst time. Jason Collins, a former NBA player did the smart thing and announced he was gay when he was finishing up his NBA career. That way he didn't have to deal with all of the paparazzi during his career. Another person that made a smart choice was Freddie Mercury, the former lead singer of the British rock band Queen following his death in 1991. He was also gay but what he did was that he announced he was gay on the day before he knew he would have died of AID's. That way, he did not have to live with the paparazzi for a long time at all.

That is why Michael Sam should have not announced he was gay.

  7. I personally think that Michael did right choice by telling “New York Times” that he was gay. I think that because in retrospective standard it could help a lot of people who are gay be open about being gay as well as other gay football players. So I think Michael is just as an inspiration as he is a football player. If I was a coach I would be like “Look buddy I don’t care if you’re black, white, mexican, asian, gay, straight or anything as long as you're a good player and can help us do good in the NFL, you are more than welcome on my team. It’s like with Jackie Robinson(the first black baseball player) except Michael Sam is the first openly Gay person in the NFL. This will not only inspire other people like with Jackie Robinson and also make history, like Jackie Robinson. So yes I thought he made a very good choice!
