Ch. 8 - Deadline
In Chapter 8, our protagonist, Ben Wolf, scores the game-winning touchdown. Now, in Chapter 9, he is about to go to the Homecoming dance with his dream-girl. Lots of things that have happened in this book. Describe what is either believable or unbelievable about this book. Defend your opinion.

This book is believable because of these many reasons.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, because it is possible to be from the worst guy in school to the most popular guy in school. Face it, he is a Varsity Football star and he got asked to homecoming by one of the most hottest girls in school and girls don’t usually ask guys out.
Second, because he is just a normal guy about to die and being good at achieving his goals. He comes from somebody who does not really good at football to a varsity star. Now thats what I call achieving his goals.
Lastly, because it is not like there are any weird fantasy creatures that just come up to creep ben out. Sure there is Hey-Soos but he just appears in his dreams.
That is why this book is a believable book.
i think chutcher was being very realistic with the story because all it really takes is guts determination and the urge to get things done. this story could really also happen to anyone. so in my opinion i think it is believable.
ReplyDeleteI think the author is making this believable because now and days kids do cuss and swear like they have no sense, but it is the way kids express themselves now. I also believe that football teams do act that way, like a family. The fact he has cancer is very believable because they do give you an guess on how long you might live but most people would go through chemo but there are some people in a situation like his and don’t want to go through with chemo or tell the family about it.
ReplyDeleteI honestly think that Chris Crutcher is making the story pretty unbelievable for the most part so far. I mean for one do you really think they are going to let a kid who is shorter,weaker and skinnier than everyone his age play on a senior football team. That could be possible but it’s unlikely but the one thing that is even more unrealistic is the fact that Ben has little to no actual experience in football so he probably wouldn't made it because of that too. And he’s one of the best on his team even though he has the least experience and is also the weakest,shortest and skinniest on his team and your telling me he can take down 200+ pound muscular guys, not likely.
ReplyDeleteAnother unrealistic part of the story is that he got one of the hottest girls in his school while barely even trying and there relationship escalated extremely quick.
So yes I would say Chris Crutcher is not doing a very good job at keeping this book in realistic boundaries.
I think it is believeable because it is a good book for people who has one life to live and do anything that you really want to do and get a chance to do before you die. I also like this book because the relationship with Dallas Suziki and Ben Wolf that will probably change his entire life of what he has left to live for and meet the girl of his dreams and go to homecoming with Dallas Suziki and having a romantic night when there parents weren't home that was kind of a weird part when they makes out in bed together I also think Ben will tell Dallas that he is dyeing because he has some kind of cancer.

ReplyDeleteChapter 8 is believable because when Dallas wanted Ben to come to a restaurant he thought that they were on a date. Ben then founded out that Dallas wanted to ask him questions about himself. Dallas asked Ben to homecoming and he said yes. The homecoming football game was believable because its just like our homecoming football games because they are on the same day. Bens football team lost against the other team, and our team won against the other team that was exciting for us.
In ch 8 this is very believable because they have to work hard to get it done. then the girl fall for the down to earth cokey guy. Every want to see the guy with game winning td. then he will get to go with Dallas.
