SD: He is funny when he talks to Ed. “Four sugars! what are you David Helfgott.” (Zusak 141) ELAB: This show that he is funny because he was making fun out of a piano play name David Helfgott and he was trying to make Ed laugh. CLOSER: These are the reasons why O'Reilly is developed character in this book.
Father O’ Reilly is a developed character who is helpful and caring.
He is helpful when he told those big men that Ed was a friend of his. “Ed here is a personal friend of mine and you’re not to ask him for cigarettes or money (Zusak 145)”. And especially not for his jacket.” This shows that Father O’ Reilly is helpful because now those big men won’t bother Ed whenever he comes to see Father O’ Reilly.
he is caring when he helps the neighbors settle arguments. “But nothing, Clem. Stay in tonite, okay? hold hands and watch television. (Zusak 143).” This shows that Father O’ Reilly is caring because he wants the neighbors to all get along and live happily.
These reasons are why Father O’ Reilly is a helpful and caring person.
Father O’Reilly is a developed character who is nice and joking. SD his is joking when he is saying “well what about the state of you ? when was the last time you was that jacket?” [Zusak 141]. ELAB this shows that he is Joking because he was making fun of his jacket. SD He is nice when he says “Ed here is a personal freind of mine” [Zusak 145]. Elab this shows that he is nice because he is calling Ed his best freind.
Tp: Father O’Reilly is a developed character who is kind and caring. SD: He is kind when he helps people out near his house “Can you two do me a favor and calm down!” (Zusak 142) Elab: This show he is kind because he cares about his neighbors and everyone around him. SD: He is caring to people on the streets near his house “ Now listen up, boys. I want you to meet Ed. Ed, this is Joe, Graeme, and Joshua.” (Zusak 145) Elab: He is caring because he doesn't want to give up on anybody in that neighborhood. Closer: Those are some the good characteristic about Father O’Reilly.

SD He is caring when he goes and talks to the guys outside and explains to the guys to not ask things from him.
ELAB This shows that he is caring because he is caring for Ed and stopping the guys from asking for things“Now you guys remember something the father speaks sternly now Ed here is a personal friend of mine and you're not to ask him for money and cigarettes and especially not for his jacket”(Zusak 145)
CLOSER These are all the reason why father is a helpful caring guy and a really awesome priest.

SD He is defensive when he talks to people Elab he is defensive when he talks, i know this because when ED said that his house looked like crap, and O’Reilly said well, “your jacket doesn't look the best either.” (Zusak 141) SD O’Reilly is a peace maker Elab O’Reilly is a peacemaker because, when the neighbors were fighting he simply yells “Can you two do me a favor and calm down!” (Zusak 142) Closer in my opinion these are some various examples why Father is Defensive and a peace maker.
