After watching the TED Talk from Andrew Stanton, write about the following:
What stories (TV Shows, Books, Movies) are your favorites? What "Clues" from the TED Talk do your favorites have?
Clues to a Great Story
1. Gives you a "promise" that you will be hearing a good story (Hook)
2. Has an absence of information that the audience has to solve (2+2)
3. Has a character with "spine" or a strong, likable personality
4. Has a strong theme
5. Envokes "Wonder" or changes your thinking on something
In the show breaking bad it ends the episode so you are wondering and it brings it up again in the next episode. This show also makes you wonder what the conflict and then finally tells you on episode 3. Which gets you hooked to the show and makes you watch more. The personality of the main character is he is indecisive. This has made him make irrational decisions which make the show interesting. The theme would be survival. This show makes you wonder if he is alive because it dint necessarily say he was okay or got rid of his cancer.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite movie is Grandmas’ boy and favorite TV show is Family Guy. They both hook people by using comedy, usually rude or racist funny comments. They use big word that some people might not understand. What people never heard of, you usually have to have a big vocabulary and a dirty mind. The main of Grandmas’ boy is relatable character and people like him wish they had parts of his life. Family Guy it’s mainly the jokes that they tell throughout the TV show. Grandmas’ boy has a strong theme to it; it is if up get up and try you can succeed. Family Guy has a different theme I think every episode, for example you should treat people like it’s their last day on earth. Grandmas’ boy didn’t make me wonder about anything, it was mostly funny. Family is the same thing as grandmas’ boy, it didn’t make me wonder.

Never back down is my favorite movie because in a scene Tyler promised his friend max he won’t let anything happen to him but he gets beat up by his enemy Ryan. Never Back Down started out as Tyler moves from town house to town apartment and Tyler gets into fights with his mom.
ReplyDeleteNext in Never Back Down some parts of the movie has the audience thinking what’s going to happen next. Example: In a scene Tyler’s friend max brings a video of a professional boxer because of what happened to Tyler and is trying to be helpful to get the other back.
The two main characters are Tyler and Ryan.
My favorite movies are Finding Nemo and Toy Story. Also my favorite TV-shows are Friends. The TV show Friends one of the great clues to friends is Absence of info because it gets in the middle of the story and then it cuts off in the middle of the episode. In the movie Toy Story one of the great clues to toy story is strong theme because you can tell when the movie is getting to the theme. The movie Finding Nemo on of the great clues is wonder because they make you wonder what is going to happen next.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite T.V. shows are guilty crown is one of my favorite T.V. guilty crown is one of my favorite T.V. Is a good T.V. show is that it is a very sad story. The main characters are Shu, Inoue, and Guy. Shu life was bad he used to be a kid how is always quite but now since he meat Inoue. Inoue is a singer but in the inside she is a girl who fights for freedom and tries to free the people who is about to be killed incent people who has done nothing wrong in their life. Guy is the leader of the paradise gannows. They have left out that Guy was going to be trade them and tries to steel the king power from Shu till the very end of the episodes. The theme of this whole thing was that they are trying to make a better future for the people who have died. I wonder if they are going to stop the govement from killing all the people in the world.

For instance, the book gives you a promise that the main character will try to escape the protectosphere and find the missing. The reader wants to solve problems going on in the book, the main character has

My favorite story is insurgent it is a grate book and lot of people like it. This story is nonfiction and is about a girl that has to leave her family to go to a different district. And my second one is finding nemo. It has a good plot and it came from something that happened in his life and went off that. Both of these story’s lead you on and make you think. They give you promise. That is why I like these stories. How thay made you a promise by telling you there is something else there.
