EOS Final

After finishing your independent reading book, write about the Elements of Story.  Each should contain the "vocabulary" that we talked about in class (ex. Act I, The Fall of the Hero, Flat, Internal, etc.)

8 comments:

  1. My independant book is "Dark Parties." The book begins with act 1. The main character (Neva) is with a group of her friends in a protest against the protectosphere. A giant dome blocking anything from getting in, or out. The main conflict is that Neva wants to leave the protectosphere. Continuing to act 2, the people that Neva knows begin to start disappearing, without any evidence of where they have gone or whether they existed or not. In act 3, Neva gets a chance to escape the protectosphere. It wasn’t easy, but Neva successfully escaped and made it to the outside world.
The micro setting of the book is the city inside the protectosphere, neither macro setting or time period are revealed.
The protagonist of the book is Neva. the antagonist(s) are the government enforcers keeping everyone inside the protectosphere. The static character is Neva’s father. The dynamic character is Braydon. The flat character is Nicoline. The round character is Sanna.
The internal conflict is individual vs. self. The external conflict is individual vs. society.
The point of view is in 1st person, because Neva is always saying I, I felt, I said, etc.
The theme of the book would have to be Survival. One reason is that Neva wants to leave the protectosphere before she disappears without a trace.

  2. We first start out with plot act one. The character is Tyler because he has the most conflict. The conflict is he is dealing with community service. Then we go to act two the complication is where we thought the only problem he had was community service but BAM it just got a little bigger. The fall of the hero is the worst part of the book when Tyler goes to a party pass his curfew and don’t tell his parents and ends up getting caught. Act three is the resolution when things get shorted out. Tyler tells them the truth of what really happen the night of the party.
The setting is micro and macro. Micro is small and macro is big. This is taking place at school so that would be micro and it would be around are time period so that would be macro.
Character is next. Protagonist is Tyler because he has the most conflict. Antagonist is chip because he is keeping Tyler away from his goal. Static is the dad because he says all angry throughout the book. Dynamic is Tyler he changes a lot throughout the book. Flat is chip because we don’t know that much about him and why he is mean. The last is round and it would be Tyler because tells us about his pass and what happen.
The conflict would be internal and external. Internal is individual vs self because he fight with himself some time. External would be individual vs individual because he fight with other people in the book.
The point of view of this story is telling from first person point of view because he is telling the story from his point of view.
The last is theme. The theme of this story is relationship because these story is dealing with lots of relationship with friends and family.

  4. The plot of the book Twisted is act 1. There is a person name Tyler Miller who did a bad thing at school that makes him do community services. The conflict is that Tyler spray-painted the school and now he has to pay for doing this. Act II is the complication. I thought that the punishment was the worst thing that happened then now he has to deal with this girl name Bethany Millbury. She is the girl that Tyler likes so he did all this prank just to make him look cool. Bethany also likes Tyler too that why at the party she chose him out of everybody else. The fall of the hero is when people starts to put up pictures of Bethany online were everybody can see it. Everybody at school all thinks that its Tyler who did it. The resolution is when the cops found out that it was not Tyler who did it. So now Tyler can rest without worrying and he gets a second chance with family.
The setting take place in the were micro and macro. The micro is at a person house were they are drinking. The macro is in the state of Ohio. The other setting is when micro and macro. The micro is when it is at night were they were drinking at. The macro it is a lager period of time it happened in present day.
The character of the book is the protagonist is the character with the conflict and that is Tyler. The antagonist is trying to keep the protagonist from reaching his goal and that is Chip. The flat is the character that is not developed and that’s and mom and the dad. The round of the character is more developed and that is Bethany. The static is what the character stays the same though the whole book and that is the cops. The dynamic is changes in character and that is Tyler.
The conflict is individual VS self. Tyler is trying to force him to start doing good thing in his Life. The external conflict is individual VS individual because Tyler is trying to win against his enemy name Chip. Chip always gets into Tyler way by beating him up and all that stuff.
The point of view in this story is 1st person. It is 1st person because you can see in his point of view.
The theme is relationship when Tyler tries to make his life better by his relationship with Bethany and his family. It is also survival because he is trying to survive from the cops and his parents.

External: Individual vs. Individual because Shelby is having problems with her dad because of what is happing.
    Point of view
Third person limited because I only know what Shelby knows what’s going on.
    Theme
The book was mainly about fear and relationships. One theme is fear because Shelby was afraid something was going to happen to her dad. Another theme is relationship because Shelby wanted a better relationship with her dad and mom so they can work things out more better also to tell the truth right away.

The dynamic character is Isabel because she grows throughout the book. She started as the protagonist and she will just get more developed throughout the book. The flat character is Mr. Lockton because we know the character but we don't know a lot about him. For example I know that he wants to kill General G.Washington. The round character is Isabel because she is more developed throughout the book. For example she wants to make her own way in life without her masters.
The conflict of this story is Internal conflict is individual vs. self because she has so many thing going on in her head. For example her sister got sold and she wants to run away. The External conflict is individual vs. individual because she want her master to get her sister back.
