The theme of fear was presented throughout The Eye of the Beholder. One of the examples is when she was thinking that she’s still going to look ugly. This shows fear because she doesn’t want to be different and look abnormal to everyone else. Another example of fear is when she started screaming and breaking down. This shows fear because if the treatment didn’t work she’d be stuck with her “disability” forever and she didn’t want that to happen. The last example is when she was running away from the doctor and the nurses. This shows fear because she wanted to run away from the situation, and just blend in with society. That was three of the many examples of when the theme of fear was presented in this story.
