  1. How did Ed’s choices to this point in the book reveal his character? Well when he got the gun in his mail box, he said to himself right there and then that he would not kill the man. He didn’t do it, he just scared him away to the next state. Ed is not the person to kill a man. Not every for his own life. Plus he could not live with the fact that he killed someone, because he could not sleep the 2 days he had the gun. Ed is kind, caring and honest, he would not do the thing on the card if it was for the men that came and beat him up and all he wanted to know is if his dog was ok. (Page 105)
How do circumstances shape the choices Ed faces? When he had to help a young girl with her running she was good looking and I think that if she was ugly he would of just buy her some shoe and then left. If the old women were happy had he had to stop it. He would not do that, because he would not want to make these old women sad. When he had to shoot the man, but if the man saw talking trash to Ed and told hem that he going home to beat his wife. I think Ed might of shoot him. (Page 91)

  2. Ed’s choices he made this far in the book have changed his life drastically. One way how Ed’s life has changed is when he got a letter in the mail that included the following quote: “Good luck and keep delivering. I’m quite sure you realize your life depends on it.” (Zusak, 113) Ed’s life has changed a lot since the bank robbery, he has begun receiving playing cards with addresses on them which is telling him to go to the addresses and help the people out that live there. He went from being a kid playing card games with his friends to a hero with many lives depending on him.
Another way how Ed’s life has changed drastically was when he was faced with a challenge of killing the man that lived at 45 Edgar Street, “I fasten my hand to the gun. My finger’s on the trigger. Sweat slides down my face.” (Zusak, 90) This has changed Ed’s life in many different ways because now he can live his life knowing that he can beat any hard challenges in his way, and live knowing that he didn’t kill the man, but he saved a mother and daughter from a drunk that was raping the mother and quite possibly the daughter too.
Ed has made a lot of choices already in the book. He was faced with many difficult challenges that adults can’t even handle. Ed took the responsibility for these challenges. There are many choices Ed has made, but these are just a few choices Ed has made that have already changed his life astonishingly.

  3. I Am The Messenger
Ed’s choice of getting involved with the bank robber changed his whole entire life because with his messing around he managed to get the gun away from a bank robber. Ever since that day he has been getting cards in the mail which has been telling Ed to do all these courageous things. Ed has been following what these cards have been telling him to do which has been wise so far but then… Ed got a gun in the mail with only one bullet so Ed implied that the gun in the mail meant he had to kill this one guy which he tried to kill the guy but the gun missed so Ed’s plan with killing this person failed.

  4. I think Ed’s choices changed his life in a few ways. One part in the story that changed his life was (pg95) “Id shot at the sun, but of course it was too far”. This changes his life because since he shot at the man, he has been scared that the man will come after him now. This also reveals his character by showing that he doesn’t break promises very often and is a very crazy guy. Another thing that changed his life is Audrey. (pg70) “Audrey and I are on my front porch, drinking cheap alcohol, as usual”. The reason this changes his life is because he likes her and always acts different around her because he is trying to get her to date him. It reveals his character, showing that he will do just about anything to get Audrey. The last part I have found that changed his life is (pg103) I’ve been down to Edgar Street, and there’s still no sign of the husband”. This also changes his life because it shows how much it really frightens him, and stresses him out. His character shows he’s not a big tough guy, he only try’s to be cool in front of Audrey and other girls.
