David Blaine and Roy Connection - Hoot

http://www.ted.com/talks/david_blaine_how_i_held_my_breath_for_17_min.html

After watching this video, make a connection between Roy Eberhardt and David Blaine.  You should make multiple connections, use examples from both the book and the TED talk and elaborate fully.

  1. I think the Roy in the book Hoot is a lot like David Blaine in the sense that he is dedicated, and passionate in what he does. Even if roadblocks come up they both wanted to prevail and continue to strive towards their goal. For example in the book hoot even though the newspaper says that they are going to build the pancake house the next day roy still won't give up and takes pictures of owls to try to bring the Mother Pauls Pancakes to court. and David Blane failed on live tv! trying to set the record to hold his breath. after preparing for his next attempt, the record holder beat his original record making it even harder for David to keep up. but in the end he never gave up and now holds the record for holding his breath the longest.

  2. Roy and David Blaine are one of the most similar people. they both never give up on want they want to do, like with Roy and the owle. Also like David and holding his breath for 17 mins. They are both determined people, when they put their minds to something they do it no matter what people say, they fight till they succeed.

  3. David Blaine Connects with Roy by having the same idea as Roy. Roy wants to help the owls and to figure out how he is going to do it, It connects with David Blaine Because He has to Plan and Figure out how Do the stunts that he pulls. In the video David Blaine had to plan out how he was going to hold his breath underwater for 17 mins. Roy has to plan and figure out how to save the owls and their habitat and to stop Mother Paula’s.

  4. Roy and David both have a goal that they are trying to do. Roy was trying to save the Owls form the pancake house and David is trying to beat the world record of holding your breath. David was put in water to see how long he is going to do this he was getting closer and closer to the record that he is aiming at 17:04. Roy is on his way to try and save all of the owls from getting killed like ants. Roy and his friend is just like David because they are trying to computation something in there life to make a difference.

i did this wrong so hahahahahhaha

  5. A connection Roy and David Blaine have would be they both don't just give up on what they believe in. I know this because, Roy kept repetitively trying to save the owls in different ways. I know this about David because, he met with doctors and people that would help him and prepare him for this event. Another thing they have in common would have to be is that they pushed themselves beyond what they expected. I know this because, in the book Roy at the beginning was going to just give up and quit trying to save the owls. David pushed himself beyond the 16 minutes and 30 seconds becauses he didn't just want to pass it but he wanted to earn it and respect it.

  6. The magician David Blaine and Roy from the book Hoot are alike. One reason why is that they both push themselves for something they care about, Roy cares about helping the owl’s, and David Blaine cares about breaking the world record for holding your breath the longest.

  7. Roy and David Blaine are the same because they both don’t give up what they believe in what they can do. Like Roy he won’t stop until those owls are safe from mother Paula's mother house and David didn't give up until he know that he could break the world record for holding his breath the longest. For example David didn't stop trying after he failed a couple of times he kept on push and end up breaking the new record. Roy he didn't give up when all hope seemed lost to help the owls he kept pushing forward and end up saving the owls.

same with david blame when he try to break the record the first time he failed and was told he could never do it, but he keep on training to get better and after month he was finally able to beat it on tv. they never gave up.
