Comment on the Elements of Story from the Orca Book that you recently finished reading.  Remember to include specific terms, for example: the complication, static/dynamic, macro/micro, etc.

8 comments:

  1. The plot of the book Bull Rider is suspenceful. In act 1 the character of the book is Layne McQueen and his confilct is his mother. She wont let him bull ride because his father was killed in a bull riding compatition. In act 2 his complication is that he lies to his mother and does it anyway. For the fall of the hero, I though that he would be dead when Rhino the bull cuts a big opening on his side. In the final act 3 Lanyes resolution is that his mom does not get upset for him bull riding behind her back. She knew he would go behind her back anyway because he had a passion for riding when he was little.
The mirco setting is on a farm and a rodeo. The macro setting is propably in Texas. The when mircro setting is in the moring and afternoon. The macro setting is in the 1990. The setting is important to the conflict because in Texas there are alot of farms and rodeos in Texas.
The protagonist of the story is Lanye and his conflict is his mom. The antgonist is his mom because she won’t let him bull ride. The static character is Chase the grandpa because he is just telling Lanye what to do to ride a bull. The dynamic character is Lanye because he changes a lot throughout the story by changing his attitude alot. The flat character is Tara his sister because she was in the book but she wasnt developed enough. The round character is Lanye because he was the main character in the book and he was more developed in the story.
The conflict of this book is Eexternal: Individual vs. Individual because Lanye is vs. his mom and his sister Tara. The Internal conflict is Individual VS. Self because he was angry for not riding Rhino the bull at the rodeo.
The theme of this story isfear because he has to face his greatest fear for riding Rhino. For example, he use to ride young bulls but he takes a chalenge for riding Rhino. Rhino is the meanest bull know to man and that is why he took that chalenge.
The POV is 1st person because the person is is telling us about why he can’t bull ride.

  3. Bull Rider
For plot of act one is character and conflict. the main character in this story is Layne and the conflict he was have right now is his mom not letting him bull rider because of his father being kill by a bull. Then we move on to act two were it is the complication and fall of the hero. For the complication is we thought the only problem he had was his mom but BAM it just got a little bigger when he wanted to ride an adult bull named Rhino and almost got killed the first time. Then we move no to fall of the hero where the wrost start to happen. When Layne miss the rodeo and will have to look frowerd for next years rodeo. Then the last act is resolution is at the end when gets one more chance to ride in the rodeo and got to have his remacth with Rhino.
For the setting of the story it was macro because it took place in the country and then the time is also macro because it is are current time peried.
Character deals with protagonist and antagonist. The Protagonist is Layne because he wants to bull ride and the antagonist is his mom keeping him from bull riding the static character is Tara because she stays the same through the book. Dynamic I don’t think the characters in the story don’t really change in the story. Flat The character we don’t really know the back ground of is Laynes mom we don’t know what she did in the past. Round is layne because we know every thing about Layne what he likes to do. Emotions is also Layne because he has a lot of inner thoughts of what he should and should not do and if he should go behind his moms back.
The point of view is coming from Layens point of view which is first person
Conflict is internal and external. I think it is external because its individual vs individual and individual vs nature because he has to go behide his moms back so he could bull ride and he has to also go aganist Rhino the bull. Internal is individual vs slef when had secand thought about putting Rambo on the back of the truck but goes with it any ways.
Theme is the last to talk about I think that the theme is fear because Layne needs to go aganist his fear of Rhino from there last encounter with each other.

  4. The plot of the book begins in act I. The main character (Pete,) is being punished for pulling a prank on Mr. Quincy, one of his school teachers. The prank is that Pete pretended to be the teacher on a radio talk show, and he said humiliating things about him that were actually false. So Pete is being sent to “Tadoussac” to work for his uncle as punishment. The conflict is that he is being sent to a marine mammal interpretation center along a river, and he has to do a lot of dirty jobs. The complication begins in act II. Even though Pete is forced to do dirty work, he still can’t help but pull a prank. He puts a bullfrog in a women’s kayaking life vest, and when she finds out about the frog she freaks out and almost tips over the kayak. That gets him into more trouble than he is now. The fall of the hero is when Pete’s uncle pulls a prank that nearly gets Pete killed. His uncle takes Pete out onto the water, and tips the kayak that Pete nearly fell out of. In act III, one of the whales that Pete’s uncle watches gets injured from getting hit by a type of motorboat called a ” Zodiac.” So Pete pulls a different kind of prank. One that will catch the culprit. Pete gets on one of the zodiacs with the other people and he tries to record the captain admitting he hit the whale. He is successful and the captain got his boating license confiscated and got a large fine. Pete becomes a hero and promises to not pull any more pranks. End of book.
The Setting of the book is in Tadoussac. This is in (Quebec) Canada.
The protagonist of the book is Pete, the antagonist is Mr. Quincy. But it’s not really his fault, because before Pete impersonates him on the radio show, he’s just trying to enforce school dress code rules.
The point of view is in first person, because Pete is telling the story. And he repeatedly says I, me, and as I.

  5. The Problem
In act one the main character is Curt. The conflict start at the end of his baseball game the coach notice that Curt’s arm was hurting, so the coach gave him this bottle of pills that relax muscles. Act two The Complication, I think it is that he is trying to make everyone happy ever though he is not happy (yes man). The fall of The Hero when the worse thing happens to the main character, is when he starts doing hardcore drugs (crack and coke) and he starts depending on them to help him. Act three the Resolution when thing get sorted out, he get help by his friends to stop using drugs.
There is two parts to setting, and then there is another two parts in that. Where micro is Curt’s house, Leah house, a baseball field, and a store, the macro is it’s in an English speaking country. The when micro is this book is in a 1 mouth time line, the macro is in the 90’s.
The protagonist of this book is Curt because, he is the main character. Rachel is the antagonist because, she is the one who keep giving him drugs and that is holding him back. The dad, coach, Leah, and Stuart are the static because; they stay the same throughout the book. Curt is also the dynamic character because, he changes in the book. The flat characters are Darren and Leah dad because, we don’t learn much about them. Round characters are Curt, dad, and Leah, because they are more developed in the book.
There are two types of conflict internal and external. The internal one is individual vs. self, which means it’s him vs. his emotions (rage). There is no really external conflict in the book because; no one is really fighting him throughout the book.
The theme of the book is family is always there for you, because in the end his family want to help him with his problems even though he made them sad or mad.
The point of view is 1st because he is telling the story from his view.

  6. Sticks and Stones
The plot of the story begins in act 1 is the girl who name is Juiube. The conflict of the story is that she had to deal with the people who is making fun of her in at school because a lot of people is now calling her a “slut” and she does not like being called that because It is not the truth that she did what they think that she did. The second act is the complication when her ex-boyfriend was trying to get her to do stuff that she does not want to do yet. She was afraid if something is going to happen and she will have to live with him as a family. The fall of the hero is that when people start talking about what happen with Juiube and her ex they ask what they did and putted up rumors about her life. The third act of the resolution is that Juiube finds a new boyfriend that like her just the way she is and won’t make fun of her that she is a slut. At the end of the book juiube and her new boyfriend like each other.
The setting of the book is at the school, which is micro. The macro setting is in a big city in the US. At night is the micro. The macro setting is in the 90’s.
For character, the protagonist is Jujube because she is trying to find out who did this to her. The antagonist is the ex-boyfriend beacuse he is trying to make fun of her so she cant reach her goal. The static character stays in the book thoughout the book is sophie. The dynamic in the book is Jujube because she faces her fear and defeats it. The flat in this book is megan because we did not know about her thill the end. The round in this book is sophie because we new her ever since the begin her emothings and her feelings are all the same.
The conflict is individual vs indiviual because she is trying to battle withher exboyfriend and all the outer gitls at her school.
The point of view is 1st person because she is telling us the story.
the theme of the story is pain beacuse she is hearing rumos that she is a slut. She is in alot pain because of what has happen to her in the past few mothes. Her friendship with Carlos has help her get though the pain that she is going though right now.

Theme of bull rider is fear, love, and family. Lyanes mom has fear by having Lyane ride a bull because Lyanes dad died by riding a bull. Lyane has a crush on girl at the practice arena. Bull rider also has family with Lyane, Lyanes mom, and terror.
