Antibiotic Overuse

What can be done to stop us from heading into a "post-antibiotic era"? (when antibiotics don't work anymore).  Use evidence from the text to back up your thoughts.

  1. To stop us from heading to a post-antibiotic era, we will have to stop using drugs and start taking the pain that come with it. You might tell me that I am crazy but most of the doctor would agree with me. Because when you use drugs, the drug does all the fighting. So the remanding bacterium that was not infected by the drug attack again and the drug would kill them. So you have to fight off this infected by yourself. But your body has never attack this bacterium before so your become even more sick. Some people say in the next 5 year that are cupboard will be nearly bare. Because we will have to start going back where there are only two tips of drug that can help you. Am just saying that we should cut down on the use of drugs.

  2. There are many ways to not head to a post- antibiotic era. One way to not head to a post-antibiotic era is to “prescribe antibiotics appropriately and only when necessary” said Dr. Margaret Chan. This is a great way to prevent a post-antibiotic era because it’s not being over used and so people wouldn’t become resistant to the drug. Another way to prevent a post-antibiotic era is by “an overhaul in how much antibiotics are used in food production” also said by Margaret Chan. This could help not having the drug overused because if the antibiotics aren’t in the meat, you’re having fewer antibiotics and would have a less chance you become resistant to the drug. The third way to not be in a post-antibiotic era is to “stop substandard and counterfeit medications”. This is a very important issue because other medication that helps treat the same thing could have some different side effects and might cause some sort of disease which could result in a death. These are just a few ways to stop the overuse of antibiotics, prevent death and being drug resistant, and finally go back to the pre-antibiotic era.

  3. Stop using antibiotics on livestock so much because bacteria will evolve into super bacteria with can be lethal for example stuff such as strep throat. As Director-General Dr. Margeret Chan said overuse of antibiotics can without a shadow of a doubt be lethal. We are headed towards a new era spectrum in time, a time where drugs like antibiotics can no longer help. We still need antibiotics though to fight off bacteria because if we cannot fight off.

  4. I think that if doctors stop prescribing medications like antibiotics for useless things that can be cured if you just give it time. People need to stop being such whiners about it and toughen up. Can you imagine the fact that if the world did not have antibiotics no one will have any medicine strong enough to cure
there bacterial infections. A way people could go about this is by making sure they wash their hands, managing food without medications like antibiotics in them so meat is clean and therefore not as many people will get sick so we can build up stronger medications. When there are 14,500 people a year on average dying from this strain of disease, and only in 8 years the death toll has multiplied by nearly 7
people need to realize what’s happening. After reading this I believe that all human citizens from around the world should be warned over national television and newspaper or some device where everyone will see it and the harmful effects that is going to happen if we don’t react now.
