  1. I think the book Hoot describes what it means to be a global citizen very well. Living in America we have an abundance of freedoms but sometimes we don't use those to our advantage, and don't think about the consequences that are to come. For example in the book hoot two boys decide to use their freedom of speech to protest a pancake house being built on an area where endangered owls lived. I think more people should do what Roy did in the book hoot and use their freedom of speech to stand up to big business and Federal Government because if we don't stand up for what's right who will. We need to defend this land for our kids, grandkids, and the generations to come, and I think thats a big part of being a global citizen!

  2. Greed plays a role in consumer culture and in the book Hoot. One example of this is how the vice president of Mother Paula’s lies about the owl holes being abandoned so they can put the restaurant there. Another one is when Curly finds out there are owls still living on the property, the vice president says they’re overgrown chickens. Greed corrupts people in businesses, it makes them do cruel and inhumane things because of their own selfish desires, without even thinking twice about how this could affect other things.

  3. TS: Greed plays a big role in the book Hoot.
SD: one example is everyone was just caring about themselves and were taking all they wanted, but they didn't give back.
Elab: Mullet fingers was the only person who always cared for nature and got people to care about what Mother Paula's was doing. He tried to stop them with everything he had and in the end won.
SD: Big companies don't care about what is going to happen.
Elab: The companies that pollute and take animals land. They are just stealing to make a quick buck and are some of the most greedy people ever.
Closer: That is how greed plays a big role in everything.

  4. TS:Roy plays big role in the book Hoot by helping the owls and protesting to the Mother Paula’s. SD:Roy is helping the owls.ELAB:It relates to consumer culture because he is trying to save the owls from danger. Also that the owls are a protected from destruction of their habitats. SD:Roy is protested to the Mother Paula’s to not burying.ELAB:This relates to consumer culture because Roy is being a civil person with the protest. Also that Roy had to save the owls.CLOSER: This is Roy’s way of consumer culture.

  5. Individual play a bigger role in the consumer culture. Roy was just a boy from another state when he got caught up in the fight between mullet fingers and the pancake company. because of that Roy started to devote time to save the owls. giving his name to mullet finger when he was bit, and giving his classmate a speech about the owls. also a bike tire.
secondly because of Roy, the pancake place will not be building a house there and when they heard of the owls there stock market when down. it took a big hit, because when they want to build a new pancake house they are going to be watch by everyone.
the point is when you set your mind to something you will get it done even if it a million dollar company.

  6. TS:Greed plays a big role in consumer culture in the book hot.

SD:One thing that shows greed in hoot is the vice president of Mother Paula's pancake house.

ELAB: Chuck Muckle didn't really care if there were owls there or not. all he just wanted was the mother Paula's house to be built so he could just make more money.

SD: another thing that shows greed is Mullet fingers mom how just wanted to be on camera.

ELAB: Lonna leep didn't really care if the owls were safe she just wanted to be famous. so she started acting like as if she was proud of out her son. But then when later when he tried to escape from the house one of the neighbors though he was a bregler so they called the cops and he later got caught,Lonna said that he stole one of her rings and to send him to Juvenal detention.

CLOSER:Thats how greed plays a role in the book hoot.

  7. TS: I think that in the book hoot tells us about animals that in danger.
SD: Roy is trying to risk his life to save the owls.
Elab Roy and his friend Napoleon Bridges were thinking of plans just to runne the pancake house. First of they started to put snakes and alligators.
SD: Roy and Napoleon Bridges all put out a riot to saved these anime owls.
Elab: Napoleon stuck him in the hole of the owls so that they can not killed them. Roy and his friends from school all block all of the people from trying to open the place.
CLOSER This is what I think of the book hoot.

  8. In the book Hoot, Greed plays a role in consumer culture.
Greed plays a role because, in the book all these people wanted a pancake house. Not knowing that there were alive owls living underground in that area. They lied and decided to build there becauses, if people knew there were owls beneath the people would not like it.
Another example in the book that deals with greed, is Chuck Muckle says that the dens and abandoned, and have been abandoned for years. He did this because he knows he wouldn't be able to build the restaurant with owl dens still active right below.
These are some various examples of greed in the book Hoot.
