Based on the above TED talk and class discussions answer the
following questions. Explain what the following
statement means: “Our character is not reflected by the gifts given to us at
birth, but by choices we make over a course of a lifetime.” Give examples of gifts and choices in your
life Jeff Bezos may be talking about.
Use TS,
and SD,
ELAB
for each example. You need one or more examples of gifts and chioces in your life.
A gift I have in my life is the ability to not let any kind of obstacles come in the way of my success because I will always know that deep down through struggles comes strength. And with that ability I know I may be some day a very successful person because that potential is a very high possibility if you thrive to be successful. Life is about decision on what path you want to follow it could be either living on the streets or it could be being a multi-millionaire but with the gift I have I will try my hardest to not be the person living on the streets but a multi-millionaire or just the middle class citizen either one of which I have to push through any kinds of obstacles. The choices I want to make in life can be graduating high school therefore getting my high school diploma and going to college to get my degree in business management which can increase my potential of someday being a very successful man.
ReplyDeleteMy choice that I make is to be kind to people in all different places and what they did. Like when my friend hit me in the face with a basketball I did not start freaking out about it. Plus I can never stay mad at someone if they did something to me. My gifted is that I am athletics in many was and in many sports. When I was like 10 I started to play soccer forever summer for like 6 years and all was got one or more goal a game to win and came in second place in a games. Other example is that I try to play other sport to year like football, baseball, and other sport. The choice we make know will change are gift later. nananananananana BATMAN ?
ReplyDeleteJeff Bezos’ quote “Our character is not reflected by the gifts given to us at birth, but by choices we make over a course of a lifetime” is saying that gifts are a pathway to success but the choices you make will get you there. I believe everyone has at least one gift they’re born with. One of my gifts is being good at math. Math is one of my gifts because I was always good at math when I was smaller, but being good at math will only help me to be what I want after college.
ReplyDeleteEveryone makes bad choices once and awhile but when you know you’re making bad choices and you don’t care, it holds you back from succeeding. Many people such as myself try to make only good choices. One of the choices I make is being responsible. I believe being responsible is a big step to success because you take responsibility for your actions and for your work; it also makes others view you as a much better person.
Everyone knows the difference between a gift and a choice but where many people go wrong is thinking that your gifts will make you succeed. The gift’s you’re born with only helps you to succeed, but the choices you make determine whether you do succeed, or not.
I think what this statement means is that you aren’t born with these qualities to succeed. I believe that success comes along as you move on in life, and make your own decisions. Another reason I think this statement says something about making choices over a lifetime is because you can’t always rush your lifetime decisions leading to success. Some gifts in my lifetime so far is my family and close friends. One reason these are some gifts in my life is because they help me make choices in life and influence me to do good things. For example one choice my mom helped me make was getting a job. I’m glad I did this because it has made me succeed more in life than what I would if I didn’t have one. If I didn’t have these people in my life I don’t think that I would be where I am at right now. This is how I connected to the guy in this video.
