Elab: This shows obligation because Rick felt like he needed to prove that he was not above the team and that he was able and willing to work hard just like everyone else.
Obligation is demonstrated in the book Bull Rider.
ReplyDeleteOne way it is demonstrated is when Layne tries to enter the rodeo but his mom stops him. (Halvorson 2) “I swallowed. An entry form for the rodeo next month. I said and watched her grin fade.” This shows obligation because Layne’s father was a bull rider.
Another way of obligation being shown is when after Layne gets injured while trying to ride the bull, he knows his mom should know about it. (Halvorson 30) “ It was only a matter of time before Chase told Jana’s parents and they told mom.” This shows obligation because Layne disobeyed his mom and he almost got killed.
One other way of obligation being shown is when Chase calls Layne and leaves him a message. (Halvorson 42) “ He said to show up at the arena tonite at seven.” This shows obligation because this sounded like a threat to Layne. That Chase was going to tell Layne’s mom that he’s still bull riding.
Bull Rider has many ways of showing obligation which makes it a good book. If you have the chance, read it sometime.
